Stuffed French Toast

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz (250 g) Lactantia Cream Cheese, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups (185 g) strawberries, sliced
  • ½ cup (47 g) sliced almonds
  • ½ cup (80 g) chopped semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 tsp (4 g) vanilla extract

For the French Toast:

  • 1 loaf of bread, sliced 2 inches thick
  • 4 large eggs (200 g)
  • ½ cup (127.5 g) Lactantia 35% Whipping Cream
  • 2 tbsp (35 g) maple syrup
  • 1 tsp (2 g) cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp (30 g) Lactantia Unsalted butter, divided

For Garnish:

  • Whipped cream
  • Additional strawberries
  • Maple syrup

Directions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a bowl, gently combine the cream cheese, strawberries, sliced almonds, chopped chocolate, and vanilla extract.
  2. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a wide, shallow bowl or pan, whisk together the eggs, whipping cream, maple syrup, and cinnamon.
  3. Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of bread in half to create a pocket. Pipe approximately 4 tbsp of the cream cheese mixture into each pocket.
  4. Cook the French Toast: Heat a pan over medium-low heat and melt 1 tbsp of butter. Coat each stuffed bread slice with the egg mixture and cook in the pan until golden brown on both sides, adding more butter as needed.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with whipped cream, additional strawberries, and shaved chocolate. Drizzle with extra maple syrup.
