Smash Burger Tacos
6 servings
Ingredients
Burger sauce:
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp sweet relish
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp hot sauce (add more for a bigger kick)
Tacos:
- 1 lbs ground beef
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 5inch flour tortillas
- 6 tbsp vegetable oil
- 6 slices Cracker Barrel medium cheddar slices
- 18 thin bread and butter pickles
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- ¼ cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 tbsp white sesame seed
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine all the burger sauce ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
- In a separate bowl, season the beef with salt and pepper. Divide into 6 equal portions.
- Top each tortilla with a portion of beef. Use a fork to flatten the beef into an even layer, leaving a ¼-inch border around the edges.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Once just below the smoking point, place 2 tacos beef-side down in the skillet. Press down firmly with a spatula or burger press.
- Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Flip the tacos and top each with a slice of cheese.
- Transfer cooked tacos to a baking sheet and repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- Top each taco burger with sauce, pickles, lettuce, onion, and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
